Barry Schroeder

Barry was born and raised in Kalida, Ohio.  He graduated from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with specializations in Finance and Pre-Law in 2009. Upon graduation, he attended law school at Ohio Northern University achieving his Juris Doctorate Degree from Ohio Northern University Pettit College of Law in 2012. Barry obtained his license to practice law in Ohio in 2012.

Barry worked in private practice, and spent five years working at the Putnam County Prosecutor’s Office.  Handling a wide variety of criminal matters, as well as civil matters for the townships of Putnam County, Barry obtained a strong base as a litigant appearing in court frequently.

In 2017, Barry joined as Partner of what is now Hopkins, Schroeder & Von Sossan.  In such a role, Barry litigates civil matters for the office including collections, personal injury, divorce, child custody, and general civil litigation.  Further, Barry is the President of the Van Wert County Public Defender’s Office and Paulding County Public Defender’s Office, participating in a variety of criminal defense work. Barry serves the local villages of Leipsic, Ohio and Elida, Ohio as their Solicitor.

Barry resides in Kalida, Ohio with his wife and two daughters.  Barry is a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Kalida, the Kalida Lions Club, and the Leipsic Eagles.  A die hard Ohio high school basketball fan, Barry spends his free time cheering on his daughters at their activities, and rooting for all local high school athletes, but especially his Kalida Wildcats.
